Assen (NED), 14th April 2019. A race full of overtaking, a group of twenty riders who played victory and top positions until the last corner, including the two Scuderia Maranga Racing Mika riders Perez and Borja Sanchez, who were eventually penalized by the game of wakes and finally ended sixteenth and eighteenth respectively. This is the result of the second weekend of the Supersport 300, a category included in the World Superbike Championship calendar.
Weekend begun with a smile on Mika Perez, Borja Sanchez and their Kawasaki Ninja 400. Competitive from Friday (Perez P4 overall with 1’51.664 Group A, Sanchez P8 overall with 1’51.957 Group B) the two Spaniard had to fight with freezing (and at times snowing) conditions: Mika Perez and Borja Sanchez rode on the limit on their flying lap and secured third (1’51.879) and ninth (1’51.957) place respectively, both of them went straight through to the Sunday’s Race.
Perez did not have a good start from the third spot, but after losing positions, he managed to climb back up to the fifth position. In the final stages, when he seemed able to fight for the podium, he lost many positions being penalized by the game of wakes. Perez slipped to 17th position despite finishing the race just two seconds far from the winner.
