Sanchez 14th takes two points in Championship standings, Perez ended 17th. Marangoni: “We have to improve managing the weekend better, but we are on the right path”
Misano Adriatico (ITA), 23th June 2019. A fighting race in Supersport 300, entry category to the WorldSBK Championship, in which the Maranga Racing Team took place at Marco Simoncelli World Circuit, fifth round of MOTUL FIM WorldSBK. At the end of a keen week-end, the small category was on track under the sun with the riders Mika Perez and Borja Sanchez keen to compete for a good result. On their Kawasaki Ninja 400 Perez and Sanchez started from the 19th and 36th spots respectively.
By the time of 1’51.313 the #8 conquered the tenth place in group A while Sanchez, in group B, was out on track in wet condition for the Superpole. The #21 was tenth (2’01.959) in his group. The time gap, due to the different conditions, has resulted that the starting grid was a mix of wet/dry time.
Due to a penalty, Sanchez was downgraded to the last position on the starting grid. Perez had a good start reaching the seventh position, then crashes broke the group and the first riders run away.
Mika began to raise up his times loosing positions while Borja from the back was the protagonist of a great comeback with a long series of overtake. The two found themselves together in the eighth of the thirteen laps when Borja in one lap gained five positions, overtaking his teammate. The checkered flag saw Sanchez fourteenth and Perez seventeenth. With this result Sanchez wins his first two points in the championship, where Perez is seventeenth at 10.
