Perez penalized due to a contact at the start lose the chance to play for the podium, Sanchez crashed out hit by another rider
Castle Donington (UK), 7th July 2019. British weekend concluded for Scuderia Maranga Racing at Donington Park circuit with Mika Perez 20th while Borja Sanchez early crashed out.
The race of Mika Perez was conditioned by a penalty imposed to the spaniard by the race direction due to a contact at the start.
The Qulifying sessions were conditioned by the extremely variable weather conditions with the two groups that played the Superpole on slightly different conditions, while the asphalt was becoming dryer between the group A and group B sessions.
The best one to take an advantage from this situation was Mika Perez who scored a 1’53.246 which placed him fourth on the starting grid. Sanchez had a few more difficulties and with 1’55.897 he finished 20th.
At the start of the race, Perez found empty road for the exclusion of the first two riders on the starting grid but was betrayed by an excess of enthusiasm. Immediately after the start he came into contact with another rider who ended up on the ground. The race direction decided to penalise Perez with a ride through that made him fall in down into 27th position. Due to the damages brought to the bike the comeback of the n.8 was even more complicated, but also thanks to the numerous falls he recovered up to the 20th position. The other rider of the team got worse, not finishing the first lap either, struck at turn 10 by another rider who triggered the crash.
